SG's are much much better than Les Paul's.

Anyway...I'm in a good mood because I've just checked my UCAS and I've had 3 offers today. One from Staffordshire and two from Cheshire.

In what sense? it has quite a flat body compared to a les paul which has a fuller body which means it naturally has better tone. still a nice guitar, but les paul is king for a reason.

fact. saying SG's are better than les pauls is like saying that tesco chocolate is better than thornton's.

okay, not exactly, but you get my drift...

I like both. I just prefer SG's because they're lighter, I rather the shape and I'd feel more comfortable using a guitar that has a lower value than one that has a £1000+ value! I love the sound of SG's too. And when they were first made in the 60's they were just a variation of the traditional Les Paul design and they still had the name "Les Paul". And if I preferred Les Pauls don't you think I'd get one instead of an SG? lol.

I wouldn't mind an SG as they would be good for when you are throwing yourself about mid-tune but I love the sound you get out of a Les Paul through a valve state and I happen to have a valve state. So the next step is a Gibson Les Paul.

My mate has an SG but he has spent near a grand on it so it doesn't really sound like one, he has put these porky pick ups in it that require their own power source. He aslo had it relaquered with the silouette of Travolta And S L Jackson from pulp fiction across the body. Plays it through about £1600 worth of Messa an all. My mate plays drums with him and says he can get it so lound he actually feels phsyically sick. It's all about the rock.

Too much to quote everyone so I'll do this reply chronologically.

Not to sure where I want my first choice of Uni to be. I have applied for two courses at Staffordshire and the one I've got an offer from is not my first choice there, I'm also waiting to hear back from Huddersfield as that's looks like a pretty good choice.

Now onto guitars...

The SG is in my opinion a better, shape and sound. It looks a hell of a lot nice (again in my opinion) and I personally find it's a lot easy to play. Although I own neither, I have played both. I'll just keep my Fender Strat for now anyway.
